Five places in Paris you can’t miss

Paris is renowned as being the lovers city, although it would more appropriate to call it the city of love, because, when you walk along its streets and parks or cross any of its thirty seven bridges, it has already stolen your heart and you understand that no breeze will ever be so inspiring. It doesn’t matter what season it is because the weather is relative here. Sitting in one of its emblematic cafes, one can breathe the so characteristic chic and Parisian style that takes to other times. Through its architecture, you can see the Versailles period of the city, the revolutionary and idealistic Paris and the artistic and bohemian one, too. We all know the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the famous Café de 2 Moulins that inspired Amelie. However, today we would like to dive into the heart of this magical city and show you some of the places to enjoy the city far from the crowds.

1. Five places in París you can’t miss: Taschen Store

Taschen store is the official shop of the famous publishing company in Paris. An open and welcoming space to find the most iconic titles, limited editions or XL copies. Taschen’s books make you feel surrounded by so much art and creativity that, if it weren’t for the fact that you are in Paris, it would be difficult to go back to the street. They have so many old magazines, fashion titles and works on architecture, photography, design… that going to Taschen feels almost like going to the Louvre.

2. Five places in París you can’t miss: Angelina Paris

Since 1903, Angelina opened its doors to become the inevitable appointment for the Parisian aristocracy, hosting in its tea house dignitaries such as Proust, Coco Chanel and other French designers. Nowadays it continues being an elegant and poetic place, due to the mosaics decorating it, the precious mirrors and the dim light that goes along with the refined French spirit. Even though they have an extended and varied menu, Angelina’s jewels are the cakes: authentic pieces of design that combine appetising aesthetics with an amazing taste.

3. Five places in París you can’t miss: Nissim de Camondo Museum

It’s one of the most luxurious private houses that remain from the Parisian twentieth century; in it you can see the pieces of furniture and French art objects from the eighteenth century that the collector Moisés de Camondo collected throughout his life. The building is a small palace that still conserves its original look but the treasures are to be found inside: tapestries, furniture, paintings and mirrors which perfectly match with the well conserved wall paintings. Everything is combined in a way that allows you to enjoy the different pieces much more than if they were isolated in glass cabinets.

4. Five places in París you can’t miss: Le Procope

If there is something especially Parisian or French, it ought to be having a coffee, whether it’s on a terrace, sitting in front of the Sena or in a sophisticated café. There are hundreds of the latter, full of magic, but Le Procope is unique. It is the oldest café in Paris; founded in 1686, it has seen such emblematic personalities as Voltaire, Rousseau, Diderot and Benjamin Franklin and it has been the scene for big decisions such as the creation of the United States Constitution.

5. Five places in París you can’t miss: Bois de Vincennes

Although once it was exclusively owned by royalty, the park hides so many surprises that you won’t know where to start. A castle, six theatres and a Buddhist temple, boat rides, tropical gardens, paths exclusively dedicated to horse riding and an ornithological reserve where birds can live in their natural habitat. Besides the typical activities you can do in a park, Bois de Vincennes is an urban oasis that invites you to live in nature’s harmony.
